Comparing Cell Phone Plans

It seems like almost every single person on the planet has a cell phone today. But, with the increasingly hectic pace of modern life, cell phones can be a wonderful help to us, allowing us to communicate anytime, anywhere with ease. Unfortunately, with cell phones comes the need to shop for a cell phone plan - a task that can make even the most hardened CPA cringe in terror!

But shopping for a new cellular plan doesn't have to be all gloom and doom. Even though the contracts are written to confuse even the rocket scientists among us - with different rates, coverage areas, and terms - a little patience goes a long way in getting the right plan. So, the first the thing you need to determine is how you will be using your cell phone, where you'll be using it, and how often you plan on making calls.

And with all of the able cellular service providers out there - AT&T, Sprint, Nextel, and more - you're almost guaranteed to find a plan that will fit your cellular needs to a tee. There are plans that will meet the needs of the casual talkers, to the heavy socializers, all the way up to the business power users.

The first thing you'll want to do when shopping for the right cellular plan is to determine exactly how you are going to be using your cell phone. Are you planning on using your cell phone as a business tool, making frequent calls all day? Will you be using your cell phone for calls to friends and family? Or, will your cell phone be used 'just for emergencies?' Your cell phone plan choice will be dictated by how you will be using your cell phone.

Most carriers such as those listed above and others like Sprint and Suncom offer packages that allow for different rates based on usage. If you plan to use the phone only occasionally then you would be best to select an economy style plan through your ideal cell phone plan provider. If you make frequent calls, it may be more economical to sign up for a plan that provides a set amount of free minutes of usage every day or every night. Heavy users should sign up for a service plan which provides a higher monthly fee, several free hours and the lowest rate of air time. Sometimes plans offer free talk time after 9pm during the week or free SMS after 9pm on Sundays.

The most important thing to remember is that shopping around for the best deal could ultimately save you hundreds of dollars a year. And if you pick right, you will choose a plan that can grow with your changing needs.
